Get pest control leads in Canada

Pest requests name the animal before you reply. The homeowner picks mice or rats, bed bugs, ants, cockroaches, wasps or bees, or wildlife such as raccoons, squirrels and birds — and says where they have seen it, whether that is the living space, the attic or roof, the basement, or outside and the garage.

What a pest control lead shows you

Every pest control request answers these questions before it reaches you. Follow-up questions appear only when an earlier answer calls for them.

Those two answers together change the visit entirely. Bed bugs in a bedroom is a preparation-heavy treatment with follow-ups; a raccoon in an attic is an exclusion job with a roof to close up afterwards. Homeowners are also asked whether they want humane removal, so a request that rules out lethal control reaches you marked that way.

Our provincial permit guides don’t list a licence specific to this trade. That isn’t legal advice: check with your province or territory and your municipality before you take on work.

Pesticide licences and wildlife rules for exterminators in Ontario and Quebec

From our guide for this trade, with the official sources it was checked against.

Health Canada registers pest control products and notes that some provinces and territories require training and licensing for people who apply them professionally. In Ontario, the Pesticides Act requires a pesticide exterminator licence to apply pesticides commercially on any property that you or your employer don't own or farm, and structural extermination is one of the licence types.

In Quebec, the rules under the Pesticides Act make a certificate mandatory for people who sell or use pesticides in sectors where a permit is required, and application in pest management is one of the certified activities. Wherever you live, ask for the licence or certificate number of the technician who will treat your home.

Wildlife falls under provincial wildlife law rather than pesticide rules. Under Ontario's Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, a landowner can have an agent remove an animal that is damaging their property. A wildlife removal business may capture and release the animal but not kill it, must release it within 1 kilometre of where it was caught and within 24 hours, and must treat it humanely. Other provinces, including Quebec, set their own rules, so ask the company how its methods comply where you live.

How matching works

Requests are matched by published rules that are the same for every pro.

How we rank and match pros
  • You receive a request only for services you offer and haven’t excluded, in the areas you serve.
  • Your account must be active, with your email address and phone number verified, and you must be accepting new requests within the daily or weekly limits you set.
  • Requests reach you only with timings you accept, such as emergencies, and budgets that aren’t clearly outside the range you work in.
  • When more pros fit than a lead allows, we give more weight to an exact service match, how directly you cover the area, verification, how quickly you reply and, once you have at least three published reviews, your rating. Never to who pays more.
  • Each lead goes to a limited number of pros, and you see that number before you decide.

Invalid leads and refunds

If a lead turns out to be invalid, you can ask for a refund review from your dashboard. We look at each request and let you know the outcome. A lead may qualify when:

  • The contact details are wrong or don't work.
  • It duplicates a lead you already received.
  • It isn't a real request for work.
  • It's outside the services or areas you listed.

Getting set up for pest control work

  • Set the pests you actually treat. Bed bug work and wildlife exclusion need different equipment, different training and different follow-up.
  • If you do humane wildlife removal and exclusion, say so in your profile description. Homeowners are asked about it directly and many care a great deal.
  • Add your pesticide certificate during sign-up so our team can check it. It is the credential homeowners are told to ask for.
