Kitchen renovation leads in Canada
Kitchen requests show the size of the project before you connect: a full renovation where the layout may change, a refresh with the same layout, cabinets or countertops only, or not sure yet. Homeowners tick what’s included, from cabinets and counters to plumbing or electrical changes and removing a wall.

What a kitchen renovation lead shows you
Every {lower} request answers these questions before it reaches you. Follow-up questions appear only when an earlier answer calls for them.
They also say whether a design is ready, whether they have ideas but no design, or whether they want design help, which tells you how far along the project is. If the job includes removing a wall or moving plumbing or wiring, permits and licensed trades may be involved; the notes below summarize what our permit guides say.

Licensing notes by province
These notes come from our provincial permit guides, which homeowners read before they hire. They summarize official sources and aren’t legal advice.
Alberta
A contracting business that negotiates or concludes a contract with you in person away from its place of business and takes money before all the work on your home is done needs a prepaid contracting licence.
Manitoba
Door-to-door home-improvement sellers must be licensed by the Consumer Protection Office. Ask to see the licence and check that it’s still valid.

Ontario
Only a Licensed Electrical Contractor can be hired to do electrical work in your home, and the work must be reported to ESA through a notification (permit). A building permit doesn’t replace it. Ask for the contractor’s ECRA/ESA licence number before you hire.

Renovating an existing home generally doesn’t require an HCRA builder licence: HCRA says renovations or upgrades typically don’t make a home “new”. Ontario advises checking references, WSIB coverage and trade certificates before you hire.

Quebec
Anyone who does residential renovation work for you must hold an RBQ licence, and that licence must include the subclasses required for the work you are hiring them for.

Saskatchewan
Direct sellers of home-renovation products or services are limited in how much they can require you to pay before the cancellation period ends, and the contract must include a “Buyer’s Right to Cancel” statement.

How matching works
Requests are matched by published rules that are the same for every pro.
How we rank and match pros- You receive a request only for services you offer and haven’t excluded, in the areas you serve.
- Your account must be active, with your email address and phone number verified, and you must be accepting new requests within the daily or weekly limits you set.
- Requests reach you only with timings you accept, such as emergencies, and budgets that aren’t clearly outside the range you work in.
- When more pros fit than a lead allows, we give more weight to an exact service match, how directly you cover the area, verification, how quickly you reply and, once you have at least three published reviews, your rating. Never to who pays more.
- Each lead goes to a limited number of pros, and you see that number before you decide.
Invalid leads and refunds
If a lead turns out to be invalid, you can ask for a refund review from your dashboard. We look at each request and let you know the outcome. A lead may qualify when:
- The contact details are wrong or don't work.
- It duplicates a lead you already received.
- It isn't a real request for work.
- It's outside the services or areas you listed.
Verification you’ll need
Before you receive leads, you confirm your business email and phone number with one-time codes. Business registration, licence and insurance details are optional during sign-up; once our team checks them, your profile shows what was verified and when.
Contact details verified
You confirm your business email and phone number with one-time codes. This is required before you receive leads.
Business registration checked
Our team reviews the registration details you provide.
Licence and insurance checked
Where your trade calls for a licence or insurance, we review what you provide.
Verification shows which details were checked and when. It isn’t a guarantee of workmanship, and it can’t be bought.

- If you design and build, say so in your profile. Homeowners who ask for design help are looking for exactly that.
- If you only install cabinets and counters, choose those services rather than full renovations.
- Photos of finished kitchens, with the before shot if you have it, are the best proof of your work.
