About this draft
Requires legal review before production publication. This is a working draft, not final legal language, and it may change before LokalMatch launches publicly. It isn't a statement that LokalMatch meets the requirements of any particular law.
Referrals aren't live. These terms will apply only once the programme launches in your country. Open item for legal review: reward amounts and qualifying actions for homeowners and pros.
How referrals work
When referrals launch, you'll get a personal link to share. If someone you refer signs up with your link and completes the qualifying action, you, and in some offers the person you referred, receive a reward. The qualifying action and the reward are shown with your link before you share it.
When rewards are given
- Homeowner referrals: after the referred homeowner's first qualifying job through LokalMatch is paid and its pending period passes without a refund or chargeback.
- Pro referrals: after the referred pro is approved and completes the qualifying activity shown with your link.
- Homeowners receive Lokal Rewards, which follow the Lokal Rewards terms and can't be exchanged for cash. Pros receive promotional credits, kept separate from paid credits.
Sharing your link
- Share your link only with people you know, or post it where you're allowed to.
- When you post or share your link, say that you get a reward if someone uses it, for example: “I get a reward if you book through my link.” A hashtag, a tag or the link on its own isn't enough.
- Don't send bulk messages, buy contact lists or message people who haven't agreed to hear from you.
- If you ask LokalMatch to send an invitation for you, we send one message only. It names you and says it was sent because you referred the person.
- Never offer or ask for a referral in exchange for a review.
Anti-spam rules by country
- Canada: under CASL, a message sent because of a referral is allowed without the recipient's consent only once, and only when the person referring has a family, personal or business relationship with them.
- United States: invitations we send include an unsubscribe link and our postal address, as CAN-SPAM requires for commercial email.
- United Kingdom and Australia: Open item for legal review: when LokalMatch can send invitations under PECR and the Spam Act. Until that's settled, you can share your own link personally, but we won't send invitations for you there.
What isn't allowed
- Referring yourself or another account you control, or creating fake accounts.
- Misleading anyone to get them to use your link, or presenting yourself as LokalMatch.
- Sending spam or breaking the anti-spam rules above.
Reversals and changes
We may withhold or reverse referral rewards gained through fraud, self-referral or breaking these terms, and rewards are reversed if the qualifying job is refunded or charged back.
We may change or end the referral programme with notice. Rewards that are already available stay available under the Lokal Rewards terms. Questions? Write to hello@lokalmatch.com.
