About this draft

Requires legal review before production publication. This is a working draft, not final legal language, and it may change before LokalMatch launches publicly. It isn't a statement that LokalMatch meets the requirements of any particular law.

Provider offers aren't live. These terms will apply only once offers launch in your country, and they form part of the provider agreement.

What an offer is

An offer is a discount a pro publishes for homeowners on LokalMatch, such as a fixed amount or a percentage off the pro's quoted price for a service. The pro funds the offer and is responsible for honouring it.

What every offer must show

  • Exactly what the discount is and what it applies to.
  • The services and areas it covers.
  • Its start and end dates, and any limit on how many homeowners can use it.
  • Any minimum job size or other condition.
  • Whether it can be combined with Lokal Rewards or other offers. Open item for legal review: the default combination rule.

Reference prices and savings claims

Only claim a saving against a regular price you've genuinely charged. You confirm, when you publish an offer, that you can show evidence for it, and we may ask for that evidence at any time.

  • Canada: a regular price generally has to be one at which a substantial volume of sales was made, or at which the service was offered in good faith for a substantial period, usually within the past year.
  • United States: a former price must be one at which the service was openly and actively offered for a reasonably substantial period, in the recent, regular course of business.
  • United Kingdom and Australia: “was” prices and savings must reflect a real, recent selling price, not one that was barely used.
  • For quoted work, word offers as an amount or percentage off your quoted price, and never raise a quote to make a discount look bigger.

All-in pricing

Any price in an offer must include every mandatory fee, including any LokalMatch fee, other than government taxes. You can't advertise a price that can't actually be paid. This reflects rules such as Canada's drip pricing rules, California's hidden fees law, UK price transparency rules and Australia's single-price rules.

Honouring offers

If an offer applied when a homeowner accepted your quote, you must honour it. You can end an offer early, but not for homeowners who already accepted a quote that included it. The discount must appear on the quote and the receipt.

What offers can't do

  • Offers can't depend on a review or on a particular rating.
  • Offers can't include prize draws or contests. Only LokalMatch runs draws, under its own rules.
  • Offers don't affect ranking or matching. Publishing an offer doesn't move you up in results.

How offers reach homeowners

Offers appear on LokalMatch pages and on your quotes. LokalMatch sends offers by email or text only to homeowners who've agreed to receive offers from LokalMatch through that channel, and we send them ourselves. You may not use homeowner details from LokalMatch to send your own offers.

Review and removal

We may review, decline, pause or remove any offer, for example if it's misleading, can't be supported by evidence or isn't being honoured. Repeated problems can lead to suspension under the provider agreement.

For homeowners

If an offer applies to your job, you'll see it on the pro's quote before you accept. The pro is responsible for honouring it. If a pro doesn't, tell us at trust@lokalmatch.com.
