Homeowner terms

Requires legal review before production publication. This is a working draft, not final legal language, and it may change before LokalMatch launches publicly. It isn't a statement that LokalMatch meets the requirements of any particular law.

These terms add to our terms of use and privacy policy. Some sections cover quotes, bookings and payments through LokalMatch, which aren't available yet. Those sections will apply only once the feature launches in your country, and we'll tell you before they do.

LokalMatch helps you find and contact independent local pros. We aren't a contractor. We don't perform, supervise or guarantee the work, and pros on LokalMatch aren't our employees or agents.

Any agreement for work is between you and the pro you choose. Verification labels show which checks we did and when. They aren't a guarantee of workmanship, pricing or conduct, so check licences, insurance and permits yourself before work starts.

Sending requests, comparing pros and messaging them is free. Pros pay LokalMatch to connect with requests, and that payment doesn't change the order pros appear in.

If LokalMatch ever charges homeowners a fee, for example on a job paid through LokalMatch, we'll show the amount and its currency before you agree to anything.

We share your contact details only with pros matched to your request who choose to connect with it, and only after you agree to that for the request. Before that, pros see a summary without your name or contact details. We tell you how many pros, at most, can connect with your request.

Your consent to share and any choice about marketing are separate, and neither box is ever ticked for you. You can say no to marketing and still get quotes.

Pros may use your details only to respond to your request and to do the job you hire them for. They can't resell them or use them for unrelated marketing. If a pro misuses your details, tell us at trust@lokalmatch.com.

When booking through LokalMatch launches, a pro may send you a quote on LokalMatch. Before you accept, you'll see who you're contracting with, a description of the work, the total price including taxes and any fees, the payment schedule, the dates and your cancellation rights.

You'll be able to review and correct the details, then accept or decline. We'll email you a copy of the agreement that you can keep and print. Changes to the work after you accept should also be agreed on LokalMatch, so there's a record.

Paying through LokalMatch is covered by our payment terms, and refunds by our refund policy. Payments are processed by Stripe, and deposits and progress payments must follow the limits that apply where the work is done.

Your cancellation rights depend on where you live and how the contract was made, and we'll show the rights that apply before you accept a quote. Nothing in these terms reduces rights you have under consumer protection law. Examples of the rules we plan around, subject to legal review:

Start by talking to your pro. If that doesn't sort it out, write to trust@lokalmatch.com and we'll try to help. Our help is free, optional and non-binding, and you don't have to use it before doing anything else.

There's no mandatory arbitration and no class action waiver in these terms. You can always go to court, join a class action where the law allows it, dispute a card charge with your bank or complain to a consumer protection regulator.

If you review a pro, follow our review policy: reviews must describe your own genuine experience. LokalMatch never offers rewards for reviews, and Lokal Rewards and referral rewards never depend on leaving one.

Lokal Rewards, referrals and provider offers have their own terms, which will apply once those features launch.

To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for work performed by pros, for what pros say or do, or for indirect losses. We remain responsible for our own service and our own statements, such as verification labels. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
