Get freight brokerage leads in the UK
Freight requests carry the shape of the lane before you quote it. The shipper says what they need — a carrier for truck shipments, international shipping, customs clearance, warehouse space or order fulfillment — and what is actually moving, from parcels and part loads to full truckloads, ocean containers and air freight.

What a freight brokerage lead shows you
Every freight brokerage request answers these questions before it reaches you. Follow-up questions appear only when an earlier answer calls for them.
Two more answers decide whether the lane suits you: domestic, importing or exporting, and how often it ships — once, a few times a month, or weekly and up. A one-off container import and a weekly full-truckload lane are different conversations, and a recurring lane is worth pursuing differently from a spot move.

The guide clients get on this site
We publish a freight brokerage guide for clients. It is written for them, not for us, and its headings are a fair list of what someone who has read it will ask you about.
What the guide covers
- Broker, haulier, forwarder: who does what
- The operator's licence and who actually needs one
- How a brokered load moves
- Trading conditions, liability and insurance
- Waste loads need a separate registration
- Loading, securing and site safety
Questions it answers
- Does a freight broker need an operator's licence?
- What is the difference between a restricted and a standard operator's licence?
- How can I check the haulier actually carrying my load?
- Who is liable if my goods are damaged in transit?
- Do I need anything special to move waste?
- How long does it take to get an operator's licence?
Guide last checked 22 September 2026.

Waste loads need a separate registration
From our guide for this trade, with the official sources it was checked against.
- Moving, broking or dealing in waste in England requires registration as a waste carrier, broker or dealer with the Environment Agency.
- The registration is separate from any operator's licence and covers the waste activity rather than the vehicle.
- A broker arranging waste movements needs its own registration even if it never touches the material.
- Waste transfer documentation must accompany the movement and be retained.
- Check the public register before instructing anyone to move construction, commercial or hazardous waste.
- Unregistered waste movement is an offence, and the producer of the waste retains a duty of care over its disposal.

How matching works
Requests are matched by published rules that are the same for every pro.
How we rank and match pros- You receive a request only for services you offer and haven’t excluded, in the areas you serve.
- Your account must be active, with your email address and phone number verified, and you must be accepting new requests within the daily or weekly limits you set.
- Requests reach you only with timings you accept, such as emergencies, and budgets that aren’t clearly outside the range you work in.
- When more pros fit than a lead allows, we give more weight to an exact service match, how directly you cover the area, verification, how quickly you reply and, once you have at least three published reviews, your rating. Never to who pays more.
- Each lead goes to a limited number of pros, and you see that number before you decide.
Invalid leads and refunds
If a lead turns out to be invalid, you can ask for a refund review from your dashboard. We look at each request and let you know the outcome. A lead may qualify when:
- The contact details are wrong or don't work.
- It duplicates a lead you already received.
- It isn't a real request for work.
- It's outside the services or areas you listed.
Verification you’ll need
Before you receive leads, you confirm your business email and phone number with one-time codes. Business registration, licence and insurance details are optional during sign-up; once our team checks them, your profile shows what was verified and when.
Contact details verified
You confirm your business email and phone number with one-time codes. This is required before you receive leads.
Business registration checked
Our team reviews the registration details you provide.
Licence and insurance checked
Where your trade calls for a licence or insurance, we review what you provide.
Verification shows which details were checked and when. It isn’t a guarantee of workmanship, and it can’t be bought.

- Set the modes you genuinely cover. A shipper asking for ocean and customs is not served well by a domestic truckload desk.
- Say whether you handle customs clearance yourself or work with a broker who does. Importers ask for it in the same request.
- Carriers you tender to need valid safety credentials. Keep your own operating and safety details current during sign-up so our team can check them.
