Our guides are meant to help you make better decisions about your home. Here's how we write them and keep them accurate.

What this policy covers
It covers everything we write ourselves: the guides and cost guides, the in-depth guide on each service page, the answers in the questions section, the seasonal maintenance checklists, the permit and licence guides, the project calculators and the help centre.
It does not cover what other people write. A pro’s profile is written by that business, and reviews are written by homeowners; our review policy explains how those are moderated, and our ranking page explains how pros are ordered and matched.
Who writes our content
Our content is written and edited by people. AI tools may help with research or a first draft, but nothing is published until a person has reviewed it for accuracy, clarity and usefulness.
Every page we publish shows the date of that review. A draft that has not been through it is not published and is not listed in our sitemap, so an unreviewed page is not one you can find in search.
Facts, sources and estimates
- We cite sources for factual claims, such as rules, codes, programs or product details.
- We keep estimates separate from facts and label them clearly.
- We only publish price ranges when they're backed by LokalMatch data or cited sources.
- When a range comes from our own data, we say how many requests or quotes it's based on and the period it covers.
- We don't invent local facts, permit requirements, programs or statistics.
Safety topics
Some work is dangerous or regulated, such as electrical, gas, structural or roofing work. On these topics we explain the options and the risks, and we point you to licensed professionals rather than step-by-step DIY instructions.
Independence
Pros can't pay to be featured, mentioned or recommended in our guides, and our guides don't rank specific businesses. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled.
Corrections
If you spot an error or something out of date in what we wrote, email hello@lokalmatch.com with the page and what needs fixing. We review every correction request, and when a change is needed we update the page and its review date.
If the problem is a detail on a pro’s profile or a review rather than something we wrote, use the report link on that page instead. Our trust and verification page explains what we do with a report.
