    Plumbing is not a licensed trade in England, which surprises people who assume it works like gas: nobody needs a plumbing licence to work on your pipes. What binds the work is the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, which require every water fitting to be of an appropriate quality and standard, to be suitable for the circumstances in which it is used, and to be installed, connected, altered, repaired or disconnected in a workmanlike manner. Some work must also be notified to your water undertaker before it begins, and started only with that undertaker's consent, which cannot be unreasonably withheld — the list includes a bath above a stated capacity, a bidet with an ascending spray, a pump above a stated flow rate, a reverse osmosis or water treatment unit, and a pond or pool above a stated volume with automatic replenishment. An approved contractor can install some of those fittings without the notice. Ask which applies before the work starts, because the duty is the householder's.

  • You receive a request only for services you offer and haven’t excluded, in the areas you serve.
  • Your account must be active, with your email address and phone number verified, and you must be accepting new requests within the daily or weekly limits you set.
  • Requests reach you only with timings you accept, such as emergencies, and budgets that aren’t clearly outside the range you work in.
  • When more pros fit than a lead allows, we give more weight to an exact service match, how directly you cover the area, verification, how quickly you reply and, once you have at least three published reviews, your rating. Never to who pays more.
  • Each lead goes to a limited number of pros, and you see that number before you decide.

Invalid leads and refunds

If a lead turns out to be invalid, you can ask for a refund review from your dashboard. We look at each request and let you know the outcome. A lead may qualify when:

  • The contact details are wrong or don't work.
  • It duplicates a lead you already received.
  • It isn't a real request for work.
  • It's outside the services or areas you listed.
