Get window and door leads in the UK

Window and door requests say exactly what the homeowner needs: windows, a front or entry door, a patio or sliding door, a garage door, interior doors, or glass and mirrors. For windows and interior doors, homeowners also say how many, from a single unit to more than ten.

What a window and door lead shows you

Every {lower} request answers these questions before it reaches you. Follow-up questions appear only when an earlier answer calls for them.

Each request says whether it’s a repair, a replacement or a new installation, plus the type of property. A condo owner asking about one sliding door and a homeowner replacing every window in a detached house are different jobs, and you see which is which before you connect.

  1. What do you need done?

    • Windows
    • Front or entry door
    • Patio or sliding door
    • Garage door
    • Interior doors
    • Glass, mirror or shower glass
  2. What kind of job is it?

The guide homeowners get on this site

We publish a window and door guide for homeowners. It is written for them, not for us, and its headings are a fair list of what someone who has read it will ask you about.

Read the window and door guide

What the guide covers

  • Notifiable work: FENSA, CERTASS and the certificate you get at the end
  • What the Building Regulations actually require of a replacement window
  • Planning permission: like-for-like, conservation areas and Article 4 directions
  • Frames and glazing on British homes: uPVC, timber, aluminium, casements and sashes
  • Misted units, draughts, sticking sashes and condensation on the inside
  • Signs windows or doors are due for work
  • Your certificate, your conveyancing file, and what to do if it is missing
  • Looking after new windows and doors
  • Repair or replace: when a window does not need to go

Questions it answers

  • Do I need a FENSA certificate to sell my house?
  • What if my installer is not registered with FENSA or CERTASS?
  • Do replacement windows have to have trickle vents?
  • Can I replace the windows in a listed building?
  • Can I just replace the misted glass instead of the whole window?
  • Do these rules apply in Scotland and Northern Ireland?

Licensing notes by province

These notes come from our provincial permit guides, which homeowners read before they hire. They summarize official sources and aren’t legal advice.

  • England

Getting approval matters when you come to sell. GOV.UK warns that without building regulations approval you will not have the certificates of compliance you may need when you want to sell your home, so keep the completion paperwork or the installer's self-certification with your deeds.

  • Northern Ireland

Ask for the Certificate of Completion at the end of the job. Building Control issues it once it is satisfied that all necessary Building Regulations have been adhered to, and it is the document that shows the work was signed off.

How matching works

Requests are matched by published rules that are the same for every pro.

How we rank and match pros
  • You receive a request only for services you offer and haven’t excluded, in the areas you serve.
  • Your account must be active, with your email address and phone number verified, and you must be accepting new requests within the daily or weekly limits you set.
  • Requests reach you only with timings you accept, such as emergencies, and budgets that aren’t clearly outside the range you work in.
  • When more pros fit than a lead allows, we give more weight to an exact service match, how directly you cover the area, verification, how quickly you reply and, once you have at least three published reviews, your rating. Never to who pays more.
  • Each lead goes to a limited number of pros, and you see that number before you decide.

Invalid leads and refunds

If a lead turns out to be invalid, you can ask for a refund review from your dashboard. We look at each request and let you know the outcome. A lead may qualify when:

  • The contact details are wrong or don't work.
  • It duplicates a lead you already received.
  • It isn't a real request for work.
  • It's outside the services or areas you listed.

Verification you’ll need

Before you receive leads, you confirm your business email and phone number with one-time codes. Business registration, licence and insurance details are optional during sign-up; once our team checks them, your profile shows what was verified and when.

  • Contact details verified

You confirm your business email and phone number with one-time codes. This is required before you receive leads.

  • Business registration checked

Our team reviews the registration details you provide.

  • Licence and insurance checked

Where your trade calls for a licence or insurance, we review what you provide.

Verification shows which details were checked and when. It isn’t a guarantee of workmanship, and it can’t be bought.

Getting set up for window and door work

  • If you only supply and install, mark repairs as not for you. If glass repair is your specialty, keep it on.
  • Garage doors are a separate service, so choose it only if your crew handles them.
  • Add photos of installed units, and describe the product lines and warranties you offer in your profile.
