Get digital marketing leads in the UK
Marketing requests name the channels before you ever reply: search, paid ads, social, content, email, strategy, public relations or a website build. The business also says what it is trying to move — more enquiries, more online sales, awareness, or a launch — so a retainer conversation is easy to tell from a one-off build.

What a digital marketing lead shows you
Every digital marketing request answers these questions before it reaches you. Follow-up questions appear only when an earlier answer calls for them.
Whether the client already has a website changes the job completely, and the request answers it outright: yes, no, or being built right now. Headcount comes with it, so a solo founder who wants to be found in search and a mid-sized company that wants paid media and press arrive as clearly different briefs.

The guide clients get on this site
We publish a digital marketing guide for clients. It is written for them, not for us, and its headings are a fair list of what someone who has read it will ask you about.
What the guide covers
- What UK digital marketing agencies actually sell
- The CAP Code covers your own website, not just your ads
- Marketing email, PECR and the soft opt-in
- Data roles: controller, processor and the ICO fee
- How a digital marketing retainer is set up and run
- How UK agencies charge, and what sits outside the fee
- Where agency relationships break down
Questions it answers
- Do UK marketing agencies need a licence or registration?
- If the agency writes a misleading claim, who does the ASA go after?
- Can an agency email a list it bought on our behalf?
- What should the contract say about our accounts and data?
- How do we judge whether a retainer is working?
Guide last checked 22 September 2026.

Marketing email, PECR and the soft opt-in
From our guide for this trade, with the official sources it was checked against.
PECR sits alongside UK GDPR and applies even where no personal data is being processed. For marketing email and text messages to individuals, the ICO's position is that you must not send them unless the person has specifically consented to electronic mail from you.
The one narrow exception is the soft opt-in, and it has conditions. The ICO describes it as applying where the person bought, or negotiated to buy, a similar product or service from you in the past, and you gave them a simple way to opt out both when you first collected their details and in every message since. It does not stretch to prospective customers or new contacts from bought-in lists.
Every message must also identify the sender and carry a valid contact address for opting out. Rules for corporate subscribers are looser - companies, partnerships and public bodies can be emailed without prior consent - but the ICO advises keeping a do-not-email list and screening new lists against it, and sole traders and some partnerships count as individuals. The ICO can issue a monetary penalty of up to 500,000 pounds under PECR, against the organisation or its directors.

How matching works
Requests are matched by published rules that are the same for every pro.
How we rank and match pros- You receive a request only for services you offer and haven’t excluded, in the areas you serve.
- Your account must be active, with your email address and phone number verified, and you must be accepting new requests within the daily or weekly limits you set.
- Requests reach you only with timings you accept, such as emergencies, and budgets that aren’t clearly outside the range you work in.
- When more pros fit than a lead allows, we give more weight to an exact service match, how directly you cover the area, verification, how quickly you reply and, once you have at least three published reviews, your rating. Never to who pays more.
- Each lead goes to a limited number of pros, and you see that number before you decide.
Invalid leads and refunds
If a lead turns out to be invalid, you can ask for a refund review from your dashboard. We look at each request and let you know the outcome. A lead may qualify when:
- The contact details are wrong or don't work.
- It duplicates a lead you already received.
- It isn't a real request for work.
- It's outside the services or areas you listed.
Verification you’ll need
Before you receive leads, you confirm your business email and phone number with one-time codes. Business registration, licence and insurance details are optional during sign-up; once our team checks them, your profile shows what was verified and when.
Contact details verified
You confirm your business email and phone number with one-time codes. This is required before you receive leads.
Business registration checked
Our team reviews the registration details you provide.
Licence and insurance checked
Where your trade calls for a licence or insurance, we review what you provide.
Verification shows which details were checked and when. It isn’t a guarantee of workmanship, and it can’t be bought.

- Pick only the channels you genuinely run. Clients tick several at once, and matching on one you subcontract is how a good fit becomes a bad month.
- Say whether you work on retainer, by project, or both. The client chooses between one-off and monthly in the request itself.
- If you build websites as well, name the platforms you work on. Clients who answer that a site is being built often need someone to finish it.
