Get carpentry leads in Australia

Carpentry requests name the project first: a deck, pergola or gazebo, cabinets or built-ins, closets and storage, stairs or railings, trim and finish work, or a shed. Homeowners then say whether it’s a repair, a replacement or a new build.

What a carpentry lead shows you

Every {lower} request answers these questions before it reaches you. Follow-up questions appear only when an earlier answer calls for them.

That’s enough to tell a railing repair from a new deck before you connect. Some of these projects need a building permit and some don’t, depending on the municipality; our permit guides link to the official rules.

The guide homeowners get on this site

We publish a carpentry guide for homeowners. It is written for them, not for us, and its headings are a fair list of what someone who has read it will ask you about.

Read the carpentry guide

What the guide covers

  • Frame, fix-out and formwork: the three kinds of carpentry you can hire
  • Framing and fix-out materials that suit Australian conditions
  • Termite risk management: what the Code asks of timber in an Australian house
  • Stairs, handrails and barriers: the dimensions a carpenter builds to
  • Carpentry licences and approvals, state by state
  • Timing carpentry to an Australian year
  • Contracts, statutory insurance and where LokalMatch fits

Questions it answers

  • Do I need a licensed carpenter for a small job?
  • What is the difference between a carpenter, a joiner and a builder here?
  • How do I know if my house needs a termite management system?
  • Why does my carpenter insist on stainless fixings?
  • Can a carpenter build my stairs without a building permit?

Our provincial permit guides don’t list a licence specific to this trade. That isn’t legal advice: check with your province or territory and your municipality before you take on work.

How matching works

Requests are matched by published rules that are the same for every pro.

How we rank and match pros
  • You receive a request only for services you offer and haven’t excluded, in the areas you serve.
  • Your account must be active, with your email address and phone number verified, and you must be accepting new requests within the daily or weekly limits you set.
  • Requests reach you only with timings you accept, such as emergencies, and budgets that aren’t clearly outside the range you work in.
  • When more pros fit than a lead allows, we give more weight to an exact service match, how directly you cover the area, verification, how quickly you reply and, once you have at least three published reviews, your rating. Never to who pays more.
  • Each lead goes to a limited number of pros, and you see that number before you decide.

Invalid leads and refunds

If a lead turns out to be invalid, you can ask for a refund review from your dashboard. We look at each request and let you know the outcome. A lead may qualify when:

  • The contact details are wrong or don't work.
  • It duplicates a lead you already received.
  • It isn't a real request for work.
  • It's outside the services or areas you listed.

Verification you’ll need

Before you receive leads, you confirm your business email and phone number with one-time codes. Business registration, licence and insurance details are optional during sign-up; once our team checks them, your profile shows what was verified and when.

  • Contact details verified

You confirm your business email and phone number with one-time codes. This is required before you receive leads.

  • Business registration checked

Our team reviews the registration details you provide.

  • Licence and insurance checked

Where your trade calls for a licence or insurance, we review what you provide.

Verification shows which details were checked and when. It isn’t a guarantee of workmanship, and it can’t be bought.

Getting set up for carpentry work

  • Choose the carpentry services your shop is set up for, so requests match the work you want.
  • Photos of your own decks, stairs and built-ins do more than a long description.
  • If you build to drawings only, say so in your profile so homeowners know what to bring.
