Appliance requests name the machine (refrigerator or freezer, washer, dryer, dishwasher, oven or range, microwave or range hood) and whether it’s a repair or an installation. Homeowners can add the brand, and for ovens and dryers they say whether it runs on gas or electricity.

What a appliance repair lead shows you
Every {lower} request answers these questions before it reaches you. Follow-up questions appear only when an earlier answer calls for them.
The brand line helps if you’re authorized by some manufacturers or stock parts for particular models. Gas appliances bring gas-fitting rules into play; the notes below summarize what our permit guides say about gas work.

The guide homeowners get on this site
We publish a appliance repair guide for homeowners. It is written for them, not for us, and its headings are a fair list of what someone who has read it will ask you about.
What the guide covers
- Consumer guarantees outlast the manufacturer's warranty
- Repair or replace: major problems, minor problems and who chooses
- ARCtick: refrigerant work is licensed nationally, not by state
- Gas appliances: a licensed gasfitter and a compliance certificate
- Electrical safety: what an appliance technician may and may not do
- Signs an appliance needs a technician now rather than next month
- Getting more years out of an appliance in an Australian climate
Questions it answers
- My appliance failed just after the manufacturer's warranty ended — do I have any rights?
- Who is legally allowed to regas my fridge or air conditioner?
- Can any appliance technician disconnect my gas cooktop?
- Who decides whether I get a repair, a replacement or a refund?
- Is it worth repairing an older appliance?
- Why does my fridge struggle only in summer?

Licensing notes by province
These notes come from our provincial permit guides, which homeowners read before they hire. They summarize official sources and aren’t legal advice.
Victoria
Gas is its own licensed class, not something a general plumber picks up: Energy Safe Victoria tells consumers to always use a licensed gasfitter for any installation, repairs or renovations involving gas work, and the Victorian Building Authority administers the licensing and registration system for plumbers and gasfitters. The piece homeowners most often miss is the paperwork — after installing a gas appliance, the licensed gasfitter must give you a compliance certificate. Keep it: it is what obliges them to come back and fix a defective installation.

How matching works
Requests are matched by published rules that are the same for every pro.
How we rank and match pros- You receive a request only for services you offer and haven’t excluded, in the areas you serve.
- Your account must be active, with your email address and phone number verified, and you must be accepting new requests within the daily or weekly limits you set.
- Requests reach you only with timings you accept, such as emergencies, and budgets that aren’t clearly outside the range you work in.
- When more pros fit than a lead allows, we give more weight to an exact service match, how directly you cover the area, verification, how quickly you reply and, once you have at least three published reviews, your rating. Never to who pays more.
- Each lead goes to a limited number of pros, and you see that number before you decide.
Invalid leads and refunds
If a lead turns out to be invalid, you can ask for a refund review from your dashboard. We look at each request and let you know the outcome. A lead may qualify when:
- The contact details are wrong or don't work.
- It duplicates a lead you already received.
- It isn't a real request for work.
- It's outside the services or areas you listed.
Verification you’ll need
Before you receive leads, you confirm your business email and phone number with one-time codes. Business registration, licence and insurance details are optional during sign-up; once our team checks them, your profile shows what was verified and when.
