In Canada, insurance brokers and agents are licensed provincially, often with separate licences for general insurance and for life and health insurance. Ask which insurers a broker works with, how they are paid, and what a policy does and doesn’t cover before you buy. Review your coverage when a policy renews, not only when you first buy it.
