I won against my Florida contractor and he has nothing. Is there a fund?

The Homeowners' Construction Recovery Fund pays out on claims against licensed contractors, and for contracts entered into on or after 1 July 2024 it pays a maximum of 100,000 dollars for each Division I claim and 30,000 dollars for each Division II claim.

    The fund also caps its total exposure to any one licensee: two million dollars aggregate for a Division I licensee and 600,000 dollars for a Division II licensee. That matters if the contractor left a row of unfinished houses rather than just yours, because the money is finite and the queue is real.

    Which division your contractor's license sits in is what decides the ceiling you are under, and the two numbers are more than three times apart. Check the classification on the license itself rather than assuming.
