How quotes from pros work
A pro who connected with your request can send you a priced quote. Here's what it shows, how long it stays open, and what your answer does.
On this page
Where your quotes appear
Open the request under My requests. Quotes from the pros who connected with it are listed there, and we send you a notification each time one arrives.
A pro can only quote a request they connected with, and each pro has one quote per request. Anything a pro is still drafting stays private until they send it, so you only ever see finished quotes.
What a quote shows
LokalMatch doesn't price the job, bid on it or set or check tax rates. The quote is the pro's own, and your agreement about the work is with them.
- The scope of work, anything the pro has excluded, and their notes.
- Line items for labour, materials, equipment or fees, with the quantity and unit price of each.
- Any taxes, exactly as the pro entered them, with the registration number they charge them under.
- The total, and a deposit if the pro asks for one.
- The date the quote is valid until.
- The business name the quote is issued under, and the licence numbers we had checked when it was sent.
New versions of a quote
A pro can change a quote after sending it. Each change becomes a new version, and the version you already have stays exactly as it was sent.
You always answer the newest version the pro has sent. Earlier versions stay on the page so you can compare them. If you try to answer a version the pro has since replaced, we tell you a newer one is waiting.
Opening a quote marks it as seen, and the pro can tell that you've looked at it.
How long a quote stays open
Every quote has a valid-until date chosen by the pro. A new quote is prepared with a date 30 days ahead, which the pro can change to anything from tomorrow up to 180 days away.
The quote stays open until the end of that day in the time zone where the work is. After that it expires, it can't be accepted any more, and we tell both of you.
If a quote expires and you're still interested, ask the pro for an updated one. They can revise it and send a new version.
Accepting a quote
Accepting records your answer and takes no payment, even when the quote asks for a deposit. You pay the pro directly, the way the two of you agree.
Accepting creates the booking for the job, and the pro then proposes times for it. You can only accept one version, once: after that the quote is locked and the pro can't change it.
Declining a quote
You can decline a quote and, if you like, say why: the price, the timing, you hired someone else, your plans changed, or another reason. You can add a note for the pro, or say nothing at all. We tell the pro either way.
Declining isn't final for the pro's side of it: they can revise the quote and send you a new version, which you can then accept or decline again.
Quotes on a closed request
Once you close a request, no pro can send it a new quote or revise an existing one. Quotes already on it stay visible.
The same happens if a pro's connection to your request is undone, for example when we refund what they paid for it.
